Football season is here!  Don’t hesitate! Show your spirit-show your pride!  Get your official NA District-wide White Out Shirt which will be sold on October 5, and 12, during lunch periods in the cafeteria.  Shirts will also be available on Friday nights at home games. Short sleeved shirts are only $10.00 and long sleeved only $15.00. Join us for the NA Football White Out!  Proceeds from the sale of these t-shirts will benefit the NA cheerleading program.

Chess Club, Chess Club, Chess Club! Attention chess enthusiasts and novices alike! The first official North Allegheny Chess Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 10th, after school in room 232. The chess club is for those of you who want to learn how to play the game of chess, as well as for those of you who already love the time-tested game of strategy and intrigue. Through video conference and live streaming, you can meet with professionals from The Cleveland Clinic for lectures, interactive discussions, and career exploration.  On Tuesday, October 9th, we’ll connect with an Occupational Therapist to learn about the career field.  If interested, please register for the session by clicking on the link on your Blackboard announcements. You can download a permission form on Blackboard or pick up a form in the NASH GOAL Office, room 249A. The session runs from 9:00 -10:00 in the NASH “PLACE” attached to the library.

This fall, we are gathering a group of students and teachers to read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. We hope to increase our community’s love of literature while also providing high-quality, high-interest books in and out of the classroom. How can you get involved? Sign up to join the book club via Blackboard. Obtain a copy of the book. (We have several copies available in the NASH Library) Read it! Participate in a Book Club discussion on October 11th in the NASH PLACE from 2:30 – 3:30. Consider donating a copy for the Get 1, Give 1 book drive. (Surplus copies will be donated to schools in need.) Sign up to see the movie with us on Wednesday, October 24th at the Southside Works Cinema. The cost is $6.00 for the film or $12.50 for the film plus popcorn & a drink. Stop by the GOAL Office for more information.

Would you like to learn about careers in communications: journalism, photojournalism, media law, broadcasting, or multimedia/web design?  Would you like to compete in student journalism contests? Would you like to participate in workshops with Point Park professors? If you answered YES to any of those questions, then please join us for High School Media Day at Point Park University on Friday, November 2nd. The cost of this field trip is $15.  The cost includes one or two workshops, a keynote speaker, a competition if you choose one, transportation, breakfast, and lunch. Please express your interest to Mrs. Lombardi in the GOAL Office, room 249A, by Friday, October 19th. You can sign up via the link on Blackboard or by stopping by the GOAL Office.
