Class President negotiates third discount for students and staff

Since The Uproar was last in contact with Michael Mitole, the tireless Senior Class President helped organize another discount for NA students and staff — this time at Yum, the local frozen yogurt shop in the Village at Pine shopping plaza. Along with Smoothie King and Monte Cello’s, the Yum discount marks Mitole’s third collaboration this year.

“What motivates me most is knowing that the work that I do now will be enjoyed by students and faculty years after I graduate,” Mitole said.

Mitole and the owner of Yum, Mike Braddick, negotiated a discount of 15% off the entire purchase, which can be redeemed by showing the cashier an NA student ID or parking pass or by showing a picture of the discount card, which can be found on Mitole’s Instagram page, as well as in this article.

Mitole started working with Yum after senior Kayla Wisnewski, a Yum employee, put him in contact with Braddick.

Since starting NA’s student discount program, Mitole has heard mostly positive feedback, but there have been a few complaints about the places he selects for the discounts.

“Some people don’t understand that it’s harder to get discounts from some companies than others,” Mitole said.

Mitole is still hard at work looking for more discounts. He is still working with Dunkin’ Donuts, although the process is taking longer than expected. He’s also talking with Taco Bell and Brusters and hopes to reach out to places like Bob’s Sub and the Cinemark Movie Theater.

Mitole also gave an update on his plans for a Senior Community Day, featuring musical performances from NASH students and hopefully a fireworks show.

“We did an official draft of the plans, and we gave that to Dr. Kreider,” Mitole said. “He’s going to get back to us on what central administration says because they have the final say.”

Tentatively, Senior Community Day will be held on May 11.
