What to Expect at Post Prom

People generally know how Prom works. You take some pictures, eat some food, and dance a little. After that comes Post Prom, which many people sign up for but few actually know what to expect. All students know is that they’re stuck at NASH until 4 am at the earliest if they decide to go.

This year, the Post Prom planning committee has been hard at work, striving to make the best party possible for the senior class. Preparations have been taking place since the initial email asking for volunteers was sent out in October. Even with limited volunteers, the Post Prom Committee has a memorable night in store for the senior class.

“We never lost sight of our focus of keeping students safe and making sure this would be fun and memorable,” Post Prom Chairperson Linda Pine said.

With the event’s theme centering around Pittsburgh, the Decorations Committee has a plan to make NASH look like Pittsburgh, replete with skyline, fountain, incline, Heinz Field, Carnegie Museums, Pittsburgh Zoo, Kennywood, Randyland, and more.

While the Post Prom Committee does not want to ruin the surprises they have in store for the evening’s entertainment, they assure that everyone will enjoy the activities planned.

The culinary theming will be centered around the city as well, with foods special to Pittsburgh, such as Wholly’s and Primanti’s from the Strip District. There will also be some local vendors like Bruster’s Ice Cream and Starbucks, along with a table of allergen free foods, so that all can enjoy the fun.

“I know that the parent volunteers have given up a lot of time,” said Senior Class Sponsor Mr. Grater, “and I am sure it will be a great event.”

Even with limited knowledge, some students are filled with anticipation for the night’s events.

“I have been thinking about Prom and Post Prom since I was thirteen years old,” said senior Elizabeth Mathews.

Post Prom starts at midnight on Sunday, May 5, and any students who plan on attending should arrive from Prom no later than 1:00 AM. Students are not allowed to change their clothes at NASH, but they are allowed to change out of their Prom attire before arriving to Post Prom. Students are not allowed to bring in any bags except for clutch purses.
