Prom season is among us as many NASH senior girls are looking everywhere to find their ideal dress in time for May 14.

With Prom less than a month and a half away, many senior girls at NASH have been searching for the perfect dress that will make their night extra special. This year, there is a wide variety of formal dresses to choose from, such as ball gown, mermaid, A-line, high-low, one shoulder, pantsuit, and sequins, just to name a few. The dresses this year are top-notch and therefore pave the way for an unforgettable night for the Class of 2022.

While some NASH senior girls said “yes to the dress” early on, others are still trying to find the dress that will complete the last dance of their high school years.

NASH senior Olivia Phillips unexpectedly found her Senior Prom dress while on a college visit in another state.

“In the middle of March, my mom and I visited the University of South Carolina over a long weekend. While we weren’t touring the campus, we had some free time so we went to a local boutique to peek at some dresses,” Phillips explained. “Although we did not think that I would find the one, we did and I love it so much. The only difficult part was flying it back to Pittsburgh– we had to stuff it in my mom’s suitcase and the zipper almost broke because of how big it is.”

Unlike Phillips, NASH senior Bella Falo has been planning her Prom dress shopping for years, even having the color she desired selected since middle school.

“I started my hunt in finding a dress by asking some girls that graduated from North Allegheny last year what the best Prom dress shops are. Most of them said One Enchanted Evening, so I went there,” Falo stated. “When my mom and I arrived at the store, we picked five light blue dresses because I have always known that that would be my Prom dress color. Believe it or not, but the first one that I tried on is the dress I brought home with me.”

NASH senior Kennedy Dodge came across the dress of her dreams in a very twenty-first-century way.

“I actually found mine from an Instagram account. A girl that graduated from Seneca Valley in 2020 was selling the dress that she did not get to wear to her senior Prom due to COVID-19, and she wanted someone to be able to wear it,” Dodge said.

Despite working at a special occasion dress and accessory store, NASH senior Lindey Glinoga has journeyed to other stores and online websites in hopes of finding a Prom dress; however, she has yet to find one.

“Working at David’s Bridal definitely exposed me to Prom dresses and it helped me figure out what styles I like, but I did not find a dress that I loved there. To be honest, I kind of procrastinated and I only started looking for a dress when it seemed like everyone had one already,” Glinoga admitted. “My mom and I went to One Enchanted Evening and I tried on six dresses, none of which I liked. Now I am anxiously searching for a dress online as I unfortunately still do not have one.”

NASH senior Lauren Wilhelm is attending two different Prom dances, so she decided to look for two different dresses.

“I only went to one store, but I found both of my dresses there. I went in with small expectations so needless to say I was so happy when I found two beautiful dresses,” Wilhelm said. “It was such a fun experience but I remember feeling so incredibly exhausted by the end of the day.”

Senior Prom is the event that is often heard about people describing as the best night of their high school career. Whether one has had their attire planned for months or has still not found the perfect dress, the looks will surely be incredible come May 14. We look forward to seeing the fabulous outfits!
