1 in 7 of our neighbors is currently facing food insecurity. You can help by giving your support! NASH Student council will be having a food drive from November 14-18. Please help by bringing in money and canned foods to your homeroom. The winning homeroom will receive a breakfast! Every $1 can provide up to 5 healthy meals to those facing hunger in southwestern Pennsylvania. All proceeds will go to the North Hills food bank. Please take this opportunity to help us give back to our community.

Students are encouraged to sign up to take the ASVAB Test, which will be offered at NASH on November 17, at 7:30 a.m. in The Place.  The ASVAB exam is an aptitude test designed to help young people align their strengths and interests with a post-secondary plan that works to their advantage. Historically, the ASVAB has been given the stereotype of the “military entrance exam”.  While the test does provide a score for interested students to enlist in the military, it does not automatically mean students are military-bound. The ASVAB allows students to explore a full spectrum of occupations in line with their interests and skills whether they are college, trade school, military, or work force bound. With our ever-changing workforce, the team here at NASH feels the ASVAB will give students the best direction possible when planning what they would like to do after high school. Test scores will not be released to the military unless students or families grant permission to do so and the test is free of charge. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, please stop by the NASH Main Office to register for the test before the end of the day Tuesday, November 15.

Bonjour NASH! Today is the last day of National French Week. Here is the final Francophone fact, brought to you by the NASH French Club and French Honor Society: Did you know that over 45% of English words come from French? This also includes “loanwords” which kept their French spelling and pronunciation, like “café,” “déjà vu,” “décor,” “naïve,” and “restaurant.” Merci for celebrating National French Week with us!
