Though the weather outside is still dreary, the spring season approaches nevertheless. With warmer weather and brighter days ahead, NA students are shedding their heavy jackets and sweaters and heading to the mall. The new 2018 spring trends have hit the runway and are making their way to our classmates’ closets. Here’s a look at the most common sights in New York, Milan, and Wexford, PA:

Florals

Florals for spring? Groundbreaking. Miranda Priestly may be the devil in designer shoes, but she has a point. Florals are always a staple of spring fashion and for good reason, and a good floral pattern is the definition of a fresh, seasonal statement. The 2018 spin on the classic idea is more bold and graphic than we’ve seen in past fashion cycles. Big petals and bright colors are the name of this year’s game.

Vintage

Stranger Things and retro reboots have dominated pop culture in the last few years and that throwback mentality has found itself showing up in the wardrobe of celebrity influencers. Ugly-cute windbreakers and fanny packs are flying off your local Goodwill’s shelves and into the hands of millennials. This spring, steal your mom’s jeans and trade in your pumps for platforms to achieve this shoulder-padded look.

Jumpsuits/Bodysuits

Hand in hand with the vintage trend, the classic 1970’s jumpsuit is back and bolder than before. Full jumpsuits and their minimalistic counterparts, bodysuits, are the basic building blocks of creative looks. The unique aspect of jumpsuits is their versatility; the accessories paired with this trend make this trend universal and easily curated to anyone’s style and aesthetic.

Denim

The Canadian Tuxedo popularized by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the 2001 American Music Awards is back in full force. Dark denim looks are daring and perfect for staying warm in those last few cold days of April. The richness of the dark wash pairs well with neutral colors and transforms a fall look into something ready to wear in any season.

Neon/Bright Colors

Color-blocking and saturated shades are the common link in all of the spring trends on this list and are a statement no matter what you wear. Neon pinks, greens, and oranges light up this year’s storefronts and rich primary colors make basic looks bolder. Monochromatic looks are anything but boring when neutrals are replaced with the most unnatural shades of the rainbow.
