Meet NASH’s resident musicians

Every other Friday, Music Club meets after school in the orchestra room to rehearse, compose, and discuss music. The club, co-founded by Tomer Shamir and Andriy Lassowsky, practices and prepares music to perform at local community centers and events.

The mission of Music Club is to bring awareness and enjoyment of all types of music to the community via performances and unique composition.

Music Club is sponsored by Mr. Schmeich and Mr. Baldanzi, the chorus and band teachers, respectively. The club has two branches: composition and performance.

The composition group uses the computer lab for electronic music and composition, while the performance group rehearses in the orchestra room every other Friday to prepare for performances at local community centers and retirement communities.

In previous years, Music Club performed at the Sto-Rox Library Open House in McKee’s Rocks in June 2017. In December 2017, Music Club performed at a Lutheran SeniorLife location in McCandless for a holiday sing-along. This year, Music Club is already planning a performance at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

As part of their performances, Music Club incorporates both solo and ensemble playing, classical and folk tunes, and even Scottish fiddling.

“Music Club is a collection of musicians who have a passion for practicing and performing as an ensemble,” said William Kraus, the Music Club NASH Publicity Director and longtime member. “We practice every other Friday in preparation for volunteer events.  The literature in Music club is high quality, and the relaxed atmosphere and camaraderie are a great accompaniment to any musician’s repertoire.”
