For the first time in North Allegheny history, the Student Council hosted a Movie Night on the field of Newman Stadium last Friday night.
The gate opened at 7:30 pm and the evening began with pizza sold for $1 a slice and free snacks. StuCo Vice-President Victoria Ren worked with her fellow student council officers to plan and make this movie night possible.
StuCo President Ana Key and other Student Council members came together to organize, host, and run the event. The cost was $5 at the gate, and all proceeds went to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.
“We were really lucky to have a good turnout, so thank you, everyone, for coming and everyone who helped out,” Ren said after the event.
StuCo provided a variety of chips, candy, and other snacks to all students.
The movie selection was Black Panther, projected onto a screen that was set up on the 50-yard sideline.
Students were also able to hang out on the field and play games until the movie started at sunset.
Students brought blankets and friends to have a fun night on the field.
“I did not know what to expect at first, but it ended up being a great night,” Sara Hogan said.
Students enjoyed the movie and the pizza catered by Monte Cello’s. There was such an abundant amount of pizza that by the end of the night it was being given out for free.
Rachel Burton and other StuCo members handed out the free snacks before the movie started.
“I loved helping out and being a part of this super fun event,” Burton said.
Bruster’s Ice Cream also provided two tubs of ice cream for the event. StuCo members walked the field serving students as well.
“We are so excited to put on more events like this next year, so stay tuned,” Ren said.
