How did you get into diving?
I did gymnastics for most of my life until I was introduced to diving by one of my sister’s friends in 6th grade. I found it super interesting and I fell in love with it.
What’s your favorite thing about diving?
The small community and the friends that I have made.
What was the recruitment process like?
Recruiting was exciting yet somewhat stressful. But I had a lot of support from my parents, which made the process a lot easier. I wanted to go to school for both academics and diving, so I was looking for a school that had both.
What made you choose Yale?
Yale has everything that I was looking for when making my decision. The value of education at Yale is very important to me. The team was also a major factor in my decision because they get along so well and lift each other up.
What do you plan to major in?
I’m not sure yet.
If you had to pick one teammate to be stranded on a deserted island with, who would you choose?
I would probably pick Juliet because I think we would be very tolerable of each other.
What is your funniest memory of diving with NA?
At the Moon meet last year, Mrs. McClure entered my dive incorrectly and I didn’t notice that it was wrong until I was on the board. So, once they announced that dive, I tried to do it, and it was pretty bad.
How do you get hype before diving?
Usually I just listen to some music.
What is your guilty pleasure song?
“Dark Horse”
Do you prefer club or high school diving?
I enjoy high school diving because of the team aspect and meets every week. But I love club diving because there is much more competition and opportunities. Also, in club I can compete on the three-meter board and on platform.
If you were to play another sport, what sport would you play?
I think I would golf because my dad always wanted me to.
