Where did you attend high school and college?
I attended high school here at NASH and graduated in 2010. For college, I attended a mix of Slippery Rock and CCAC.
When did you first start working at NA, and why did you decide on the Attendance Secretary position?
I started working in the district in September of 2024. I decided on attendance because I’m extremely organized and that is such a huge part of this role. I really like that attendance has me use my clerical background while still getting to interact with the students. We have awesome students here at NASH, and it’s great to get to know so many of you!
What’s your favorite part about working at NASH?
The atmosphere. NASH has great staff and personalities to always make it a fun and enjoyable day. The day here truly flies by for me — that is something that is great to have. Everyone here has been very nice, helpful, and more than willing to help show me the ropes. I couldn’t feel more welcome here.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working at NASH?
When I’m not working you can find me at one of my three kids’ sporting events. I really enjoy going to local craft and vendor shows as well. Pitt soccer is something my family really enjoys going down to watch, and we try to make as many home games as we can. Go Pitt!
What is the most stressful part of your job as Attendance Secretary?
Making sure all tardies, early dismissals, excuses, activities, and athletics are in by 10:00am to avoid any unneeded automatic absent calls.
What’s the strangest excuse you’ve ever heard for a student coming in late?
I get oversleeping a lot and continue to reinforce that’s not a qualifying reason to be late. The strangest one I’ve had is that they had a hard time coordinating their outfit for the day! I’m not going to lie, when I was a student here I would have related to that.
How many student names and IDs do you think you have memorized at this point in the school year?
This is SUCH a funny question. I would say I have around 200 names memorized. I only have about fifteen student IDs and that is a good sign!
Do you have any family connection to the former NASH principal Dr. Butterini?
Yes, I’m Dr. Butterini’s daughter-in-law. Nick Butterini, also a North Allegheny graduate, is my husband. The legend is doing well and loves Grandpa life!
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. I came to the district in 6th grade briefly and attended Carson Middle School. My mom’s job brought us back down to Florida, but I came back in the summer of tenth grade and graduated from NA in 2010!
Do you have any advice for NASH students?
You must be at school to get the full experience. High school, looking back on it, is such an important time. Explore all the clubs, sports, and events the school has to offer. Be a kind student, as you never know what someone is going through. It’s okay not to know what you want to do with your life at 18. Time and experiences will guide you to right where you were meant to be.
