In recent years, the popularity of malls has rapidly declined because many previously loyal mall customers now prefer the convenience of online shopping over brick-and-mortar stores. Locally, however, Ross Park Mall still remains popular, mainly due to the fact that it features a wide variety of stores, including high-end ones. But unfortunately, for many other malls in Pennsylvania, this is not the case. Many of these malls have been rapidly dying in recent years, closing most or all of their stores. The Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Century III Mall, The Block Northway, and Allegheny Center Mall are a few of the already dead and dying malls closest to us. Cascade Galleria in nearby New Castle is another example of this nationwide trend’s effects in Pennsylvania.
