Welcome to Popcorn: your reliable source of information for everything awesome in pop culture. This was a busy week for the internet, folks, so strap yourself in and get ready to jump.

Literally jump, as in the case of Will Smith who released a video of his 50th birthday that reminded us us how awesome The Fresh Prince is when he accepted the challenge posed by Youtube’s Yes Theory. The challenge? Bungee jump out of a helicopter over the Grand Canyon. It was as epic as it sounds.

Also in epic, anyone under the age of 18 knows who Shane Dawson is: an old time Youtuber originally famous for his emo haircut and controversial topics. But Dawson really started pushing the boundaries this week when he released the first three parts of his eight part docu-series on Jake Paul and the mind of a sociopath. Controversial? Oh yeah. Whether you like him or not though, at over 30 million views and climbing for the first three parts of the series, this documentary will be impossible to avoid for the next few weeks.

Then in trailer news, the trailers for The Crimes of Grindelwald, Dark Phoenix, Mary Poppins, Bumblebee, and a Creed II dropped this last week. The Crimes of Grindelwald, the highly anticipated sequel for Fantastic Beasts, has caused a great deal of controversy from fans who either love, or hate, this trailer. Dark Phoenix, another addition in the X-man universe, starring Sophie Turner and Jennifer Lawrence, has been equally polarizing in the comments section. But Mary Poppins, featuring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda, has been received warmly, with Creed II and Bumblebee receiving moderate reviews. Still, judgment will be reserved for these films until their release dates.

Then in music news, whether you follow rap or not, everyone has heard of the Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly diss tracks these last few weeks. Whoever you subscribe to, the only real winner here is us, with new, incredible tracks to listen to.

Yet this is a sad week for gamers. After an extraordinarily difficult year, Telltale Games, a narrative-style gaming company famous for games such as The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Batman, suffered a “majority studio closure,” leaving the fate of some of our favorite episodic games uncertain.

For the foodies out there, Bon Appetit released another, “Chef Makes Gourmet Junk Food” episode, this time covering Twizzlers. Recommendation: don’t watch while hungry.

In Netflix drama, the new season of Riverdale is scheduled to return on the tenth, so brush up on your sleuthing skills, and pick up your weirdo beanies, because with the promise of cults this season, we’re in for a wild ride. In “for real Netflix?” news, they also confirmed a third season of Iron Fist and a second season of Insatiable. Why, we may never know.

And that covers it for this addition of Popcorn. Check out our recommendations below for artists, Youtubers, and TV shows if your in the mood for a new binge session.

Artists to watch: Qveen Herby – for coming in and slaying the rap game, James Arthur – for his cross-genre music with incredible lyrics, and Lauv – an up-and-comer with beats that will leave you tapping for days.

Youtubers: Annalise Wood – for her “real talk” on celebrity promoted products and style tips, and Shane Dawson – for the documentary and his rise, or fall, that will come from it.

TV Shows: Brooklyn Nine-Nine – For its “Office-like” feel, witty one liners, and hilarious characters, and Mindhunter – for a new eerie portrayal of the typical crime drama.
