Welcome to Buy or Bye, a new Uproar column and Buzzfeed “Worth It” spinoff. In this column, Pavle Djokich and Stefan Bordeianu studiously consider three different items at three drastically different prices and decide which product is worth a buy or bye. This week’s article will showcase watches.

My first stop led me to JC Penney, where I was greeted by a lady who showed me to a stand with cheaper watches. She was very kind and gave me a lot of different information on all types and styles of watches. I finally settled on a sleek-looking Timex watch. This battery-powered, stainless steel, 30-meter waterproof watch looks great and was on sale. The contrast between gold and steel gives a sophisticated appearance for the customer. For $51, this watch is definitely worth it. I would give Timex a buy ranking.

I then went to Michael Kors, where I was greeted by a friendly lady who directed me to her manager, who then showed me two watches. The Gauge (left) and Bradshaw (right) are both very attractive watches, but they are battery-powered and do not have anything except a name associated with the watch. There are many cheaper and higher quality watches that I would recommend, but if you want a fancy brand and a slick style, the Gauge and Bradshaw may be for you. However, for me, I would give the Michael Kors watches a bye ranking.

I finished my watch search at the Omega store, where I was kindly welcomed. When I asked for an interview, one of the clerks named Nicholas Ceraso started with the history of Omega. He then asked which watch I wanted to know about, and I chose the Seamaster 300M Diver (pictured right). I was overwhelmed by the awesome history behind the watch. The Seamaster is one of the four watch series that Omega offers, and it is actually the first divers watch ever invented. To test the watch, watchmakers would tie each watch to a fishing line and test it at different depths in a lake behind their factory in Switzerland. This specific watch is also the original James Bond watch. The director chose the watch because James Bond’s rank would have necessitated the item as equipment. In the movies, the watch comes with a grappling hook and a laser, but the regular watch sadly comes without those bonuses. However, it is the only mechanical movement watch featured and the only professional divers watch featured. The overwhelming Omega experience and the quality of the watch earns the Seamster 300M Diver a buy ratingHow cool would it be if you owned James Bond’s watch?
