Sugar Cookies

Need: 6 tablespoons soft unsalted butter, ½ cup superfine sugar, 1 large egg, ½ tsp pure vanilla extract, 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking powder, ½, tsp fine salt

Frosting: 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted food coloring

Preheat oven to 350*. Cream butter and sugar together, then beat in vanilla and egg. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Combine the ingredients in both bowls and mix. Form dough into bowl, press into fat disc, wrap in plastic wrap and put in fridge for 1 hour. Then, on a floured surface, roll dough out and cut into shapes. Bake for 8-12 minutes. 

For frosting, add hot water to a large bowl and sift confectioners’ sugar in and mix until a thick paste is formed. 

 

My cousins who refuse to eat anything too extravagant, will eat an entire plate of these cookies. These sugar cookies can please anyone. They are simple, delicious, and look wonderful with the holiday decor.
