E.T.

This classic is very simply a must-watch this Thanksgiving season. It boasts a powerful story about a boy and an extraterrestrial, affectionately named “E.T.”, and shows us that blood does not always define the limits of our family. This touching narrative and somehow helpless yet adorable alien will undoubtedly tug on your heartstrings and might make you even more grateful for your family this Thanksgiving, as well as remind you to “phone home” once in awhile, no matter where life might take you.

The Incredibles

Frozone: “Where – is – my – super – suit?”
Wife: “I, uh, put it away.”
Frozone: “The public is in danger!”
Wife: “My evening’s in danger!”
Frozone: “You tell me where my suit is, woman! We are talking about the greater good!”
Wife: “‘Greater good?’ I am your wife! I’m the greatest *good* you are ever gonna get!”

Ah yes, The Incredibles, the movie that is so chock-full of memorable quotes that one couldn’t find a better description apart from the dialogue itself. This hilarious, suspenseful, family-driven film is perfect to watch surrounded by your own family, laughing and cheering together. The added bonus is that it’ll get you excited for the long-awaited sequel-Incredibles 2-that is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 15, 2018.

WALL-E
Chances are that you’ve seen the little, adorably inquisitive trash compactor robot rolling across a screen in front of your young, wonder-struck eyes at some point. And for good reason too; WALL-E is a work of art. Not only is it a startling reminder of what the human race could feasibly become in the future, but it’s a hopeful tale of a positive-minded robot who just wants a friend… And ends up with many more than he had originally bargained for. WALL-E is beautifully told despite its limited dialogue, and the visuals are enough to move one to tears. All of this and more places WALL-E at our second most recommended movie to watch this Thanksgiving season.

UP
Not much can be said that hasn’t already been raved about; UP is a masterpiece. From the extraordinary storytelling, to the lighter, fluffier interactions between Mr. Fredricksen, Russell, and Doug, UP is perfect for the entire family to watch and rewatch this Thanksgiving season. The short montage of Carl and Ellie’s life together will no doubt make you tear up no matter how many times you have seen it, and the song that takes the place of any dialogue-aptly named “Married Life”-will play with your emotions in a way that seems terribly unfair. UP’s five Academy Award nominations aren’t needed to understand just why it is at the top of our “Must Watch” list.
