The North Allegheny Federation of Teachers wishes to thank all the fine candidates who applied for the annual NAFT scholarship.  The following students have been selected as finalists competing for the scholarship.  They are Lauren Kardos, Sophia Palermo, Sarah Renninger, and Erin Scanga. Congratulations to these finalists!

Don’t miss out on TigerThon’s Skate for a Cause this Saturday, March 18th, from 2-4pm at the UPMC Lemieux Ice Complex. Admission is $10, and half of the proceeds go to TigerThon’s fight for a cure to childhood cancer.  We hope to see you there!

Attention Seniors:  The Class of 2023 North Allegheny Pre-Tuition Scholarship informational sheet and applications are now available through Naviance or through the Counseling Office.  Please submit a copy of the completed application and a copy of the Student Aid Report page reflecting the EFC amount from your FAFSA filing to the Principal’s Office no later than Friday, March 24.

Attention future A. W. Beattie students: The deadline for Beattie applications is Thursday, March 23rd.  Applications are available in the NASH Counseling Office.

The Red Cross Club is holding a donation drive called Totes of Hope for homeless veterans. They are collecting various items including a variety of hygiene products, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, floss, socks, gloves, books, and many other items. This drive will run from through March 17th. Please bring all donations to Mrs. Volpe in Room 322). If you have any questions regarding the drive, please contact Cate Maldia at [email protected].

Have you signed up for any Career Conversations?  It’s a great way to learn about jobs that might be a good fit for you!  These sessions are happening during periods 5-8.  Don’t miss your chance! Today’s speakers include: a robotics and software engineer, and a licensed therapist and group facilitator. These are sure to be interesting sessions! Stop by 249A if you have any questions.

Students are encouraged to sign up to take the ASVAB Test which will be offered at NASH on Thursday, March 30,  at 8:00 a.m. in The Place.  Please stop by the NASH Main Office to register for the test before the end of the day Tuesday, March 28th.  The ASVAB exam measures a student’s developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success.  The test takes about three hours and includes 200 items. With our ever-changing workforce, the team here at NASH feels the ASVAB will give students the best direction possible when planning what they would like to do after high school

Attention Senior Athletes or Band Members: The North Allegheny Unified Boosters Organization scholarship deadline is quickly approaching.  Any senior who has participated in a varsity sport or the marching band is eligible to apply to receive scholarship money.  Application information for the UBO Scholarships can be found on the NA Athletic website under the “FOR ATHLETES” tab.  All applications must be submitted to Mr. Bozzuto in the Athletic Office no later than Friday, March 31, 2023, at noon.

Are you interested in making a difference in the school community and want to make students’ voices heard? Current juniors are encouraged to apply for the Student School Board Representative position for the 2023-24 school year. An informational session for the position will occur on Tuesday, March 21st immediately after school in the NASH Library. If you cannot make the meeting, please schedule a time with Mr. Karolski.
