Attention Seniors:  The Sales Representative from Herff Jones will be at NASH TODAY during all lunches to collect your sale order forms for graduation announcements.  He will be located at the front of the cafeteria by the main doors.  Please stop by the Main Office to see Mrs. Foglio with any questions or concerns. Caps/gowns and tassels will be ordered for all Seniors through the high school and there will be no need for Seniors to order these items on their own.

Congratulations to these NASH writers for their success with the Scholastic Writing Contest:

Honorable Mentions were given to Tess Christensen for senior portfolio and poetry and Rin Swann for humor and poetry.

Silver Key Awards were given to Rachael Harris for memoir, Ellen Poplavska for dramatic script, Nisha Rao for short story, and Rin Swann for memoir.

Gold Key Awards were given to Amanda Lu for memoir, Roshie Xing for poetry, and Rin Swann for science fiction.

Rin Swann was also nominated for the prestigious American Voices Award.

All Gold Key winners and American Voice nominees will move on to national competition this spring. There are many new writing contests on file in the NASH GOAL Office, room 249A, so all writers are invited to check out the many opportunities that exist!

Attention Seniors:  The Class of 2018 North Allegheny Pre-Tuition Scholarship Application is now available in the Counseling Office.  All Seniors are invited to submit an application for this wonderful opportunity.  In addition, any students planning to attend LaRoche College or CCAC should pick up a copy of the McCandless Industrial Development Authority Scholarship application, which is also available in the Counseling Office.

Lawrence Convention Center on Thursday, February 8th from 9:00 AM-12:00 noon and 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm and Friday, February 9th from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. Join us on Thursday, February 22nd for Engineer the Future at the Carnegie Science Center from 8:10 – 2:00. This event will allow you to explore a career in engineering as you engage in hands-on activities, interact with professionals in the field, and check out presentations at more than 40 event tables. You will also participate in the Career Café, a fast-paced introduction to engineering careers in an informal setting. The cost is $8 (cash or check made payable to “NASH). Money and permission forms are due by Feb. 9th.

Are you interested in applying for a summer research program?  The Hillman Cancer Center Academy (formerly called UPCI, the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute) is now accepting student applications. Dr. David Boone will visit NASH on Thursday, February 8th during 9th period lunch (12:13 – 12:43) to talk about the program and applications.  Please sign up through Naviance, under the College tab for “Visits.”

Students – come join a discussion about the issue of Human Trafficking with other students from Mexico, Virginia and Missouri via video conference next Tuesday February 6 at 11 am in The Place.  The event will only run for 90 minutes and promises to be  a lively and engaging discussion on this important global issue.  All are welcome
