While NASH definitely has issues that are more prevalent, the effect of stereotypes definitely isnt lost here. I see it fairly often when I see cliques at different activities and when I hear people talk about other groups. There is definitely some mass generalization going on. At NASH, though, stereotypes almost become a standard to live by. People talk about fearing theyve become a figure of a stereotype. Others judge themselves by the standards set by a stereotype. Im guilty of this myself. There have been times where Ive thought to myself, Im in these hard classes, and I love science, but I havent skipped grades in math. Im probably not smart enough to be here. Weve all done it. Its unhealthy. -Ainsley Ferron, 11th grade
