Wacky National Holidays – November

Megan Wilson and Abby Pingpank

November 1st: National Cook for Your Pets Day

This is the day to cook a meal, not to treat your human friends but rather to treat your pets. Instead of feeding your pet the usual store-bought meal, show how much you love them and cook up something special.

November 4th: National Candy Day

The extension of the Halloween holiday comes four days after and is called National Candy Day. Go out and get those post-Halloween candy sales and stock up on all your favorites.

November 5th: National American Football Day

Spend all day appreciating football, simple as that. Watch and cheer for the teams that we watch every Sunday.

November 6th: National Nachos Day

Do not eat plain tortilla chips today! Load up on the cheese, chicken, guac, salsa, or anything else that can be put on nachos.

November 8th: National Cappuccino Day

Didn’t get any sleep? No problem! Buy yourself a cappuccino and celebrate this national holiday.

November 10th: National Vanilla Cupcake Day

Go out and buy your cupcake or try to make one yourself. A vanilla cupcake by itself might seem plain, so remember to add all the toppings your taste buds desire.

November 12th: National Pizza With the Works Except Anchovies Day

Eat a pizza with any and every delicious topping you want. Just remember not to let any anchovies find their way onto your pizza!

November 13th: World Kindness Day

Be nice today. How hard is that? Put all your grudges aside for just this day and be kind. Give everyone in your life a compliment today.

November 16th: National Fast Food Day

McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A, or Wendy’s, you name it! Go to these fast food restaurants all day to celebrate!

November 17th: National Homemade Bread Day

Everyone has always wanted to make bread, so stop thinking about it and try something new! Maybe even invite grandma over because we all know she is always good at making homemade food for everyone!

November 18th: Mickey and Minnie Mouse’s Birthday

Happy Birthday to Mickey and Minnie! Go watch old episodes of this childhood favorite or, if you feel up to it, go to Disneyland/Disneyworld yourself!

November 19th: National Play Monopoly Day

Beat all your friends and family in Monopoly. Sit around a table and play the game for hours on end, but try not to let it ruin any relationships!

November 21th: National Stuffing Day

It’s the perfect time to get into the Thanksgiving spirit. Make a little stuffing to test out your skills before the big day. Just make sure you don’t skip out on all those delicious spices.

November 26: National Cake Day

Eat up any cake: from Red Velvet to Vanilla. Whip it up yourself, stir together a box mix, or pick one up straight from the store. This holiday shows that cake can be eaten any day, not just on your birthday.

November 28: National French Toast Day

Eat breakfast all day, but not just any breakfast, it’s french toast all day! Make it yourself or visit IHOP for a tasty meal.
