Did you know you were going to be nominated for the Homecoming Court?

I kind of had a feeling. My friends were all talking about it in our group chat. I sort of had a feeling I might end up on the court, but I wasn’t sure.

Were you excited to be nominated or would you have rather not?

I was pretty excited to be nominated, but I sort of had a nervous feeling of, “Oh wait, I’m actually going to be on the court now,” so it was kind of strange in that sense.

Did you expect to win?

Part of me did expect to win, but the other part of me expected that other people would win because they were more popular. Whenever I got there on the night of the football game, I found out I was the senior class representative, whereas everyone else was part of a club. At that point, I felt like I had a pretty good chance to win.

Were you nervous when you started walking out?

Oh, yeah. I was definitely kind of nervous. I wasn’t sure if I was walking too fast or walking too slow, or holding arms awkwardly or not.

Were you worried about your glasses fogging up?

For sure. Whenever I was announced as King, of course, I had the lights from the stadium on me. The fact that it was cold and I had to wear a mask made my glasses start fogging up. I couldn’t see anything, so I just sort of waved.

What did it feel like when you won?

It was really special. It was pretty surreal. I was like, “Oh my gosh, I actually won. These people actually voted for me.” It was pretty amazing.

If you didn’t win, who would you have wanted to win?

John Catanzaro. He’s been a really good friend for a long time, he seems pretty professional, and just all-around a nice person.

Is Lily a suitable queen?

I mean, yeah, we got along fine.

Who did you want to win homecoming queen?

I voted for Lena Voss. I wanted her to win.

What do you plan on doing in your reign as king?

Oh, well. I’m not very sure. I’m gonna keep doing me. Being myself is what got me elected as king, so I guess I’ll just keep doing that.

Do you have a message you’d like to share with your loyal subjects?

Go Tigers!

Is the crown heavy?

No, it’s not too heavy. It looks nice, though.

Be honest, have you worn your crown since you won?

Um…no. I haven’t worn it since the night I got it.

What is your personal opinion on sashes?

I was kind of scared it was going to fall off. I’ve never worn a sash before, but it was a nice little touch to add to the suit and everything.

Outside of your new role as king, what do you like to do for fun?

I like to hang out with my friends. Sometimes, I like to go on runs, and I work at Chick-fil-A.

What are you planning on doing after high school?

I’m going to go to college and will major in actuarial science, and we’ll see where life takes me from there.

Are you looking at any specific colleges?

I’ve applied to five so far, specifically Ohio State, Butler, Valparaiso, Notre Dame, and Robert Morris.

What’s your favorite food?

I know everyone says this, but pizza. Pizza or chicken stuff.

Favorite color?

Yellow.

What is your favorite bird?

I think either a blue jay or a cardinal.

If reincarnation is real and time didn’t move in a linear path and you could be reincarnated as any person from any point in time OR any animal extinct or not, what or who would you be and why?

I think I’d like to be a tiger or a lion. You’re independent but also fast and you get to do everything for yourself. I’d like to live like that.

What is your favorite number between 0 and 1?

Well, um, I guess 0.66 because there’s something in statistics where 66% are in some standard deviation. I can kind of remember learning that in statistics last year, so it’s pretty cool.

What do you get at Sheetz?

I typically just get a milkshake.

Any final thoughts?

Nope, I think I’m good.
