On Sunday afternoon, the curtains closed on the final performance of the NASH fall musical, The Addams Family. One thing was for certain–it was definitely mysterious, spooky, and altogether ooky.
Artistic Director Bob Tozier and Dramatic Director Davis Schmiech led a cast full of talent through four amazing performances full of laughter and hilarious family values. The cast met three times a week to practice, along with two tech rehearsals and two dress rehearsals.
This year’s performances included a special performance on Wednesday, November 5th for senior citizens and North Allegheny staff. Last Sunday’s matinee concluded the show’s run.
“The cast is very tight-knit, so it was great to finish off my senior year and my last show with people I really enjoy being around,” said Alli Reinhart, who has been involved in the musical since she was in 9th grade.
The Addams Family followed the titular family as they grapple with love, relationships, and honesty toward one another.
The cast included Arjun Puri (Gomez Addams), Olivia Parsons (Morticia Addams), Casey Richey (Wednesday Addams), Avery Besket (Pugsley Addams), Sam Peffer (Uncle Fester), Ethan Bice (Grandma Addams), Jackson Wasielewski (Lurch), Sam Thirkell (Mal Beineke), Juliet Forrest (Alice Beineke), Dean Cammarata (Lucas Beineke), along with an accomplished ensemble singing and dancing on stage.
The musical also provides a wonderful opportunity for those with an interest in theater to connect with one another.
“The musical gives me an outlet to do what I love and to meet a lot of new people who share the same passion I have,” junior Nora Davis said. “It also provides a release from the stress of school.”
Sunday’s performance was met with emotion as some seniors took their final bows on the NASH stage before the curtains closed.
“It was really special because it was my last time doing a musical and I won’t be doing this in college,” Reinhart said. “It’s exciting to finish it off with such a great show, because I really did enjoy Addams Family.”
This school year’s spring musical, Frozen, will feature some of the same cast members as well as lots of new faces. After the new year, tickets can be purchased at namusical.com.
