What inspired you to create your nonprofit Heart and Hem?
I have always viewed fashion as a powerful form of self-expression. That passion turned into a mission after I took a Fashion and Design class as a freshman. I realized that fashion, like any art form, makes a statement—and I wanted mine to carry a purpose beyond style. I founded Heart and Hem to weave together my love for design with my calling to serve others. I am deeply committed to supporting women as they heal and rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence. Because of this, I chose the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh as the beneficiary for all proceeds. Heart and Hem isn’t just a brand; it’s a reflection of my heart, stitched with intention and driven by the hope of making the world more just.
What activities, sports, or clubs are you involved in outside of school?
As a four-year member and three-year starter for the North Allegheny girls’ varsity basketball team, I have experienced the full spectrum of competitive athletics. Serving as Team Captain in my senior year was a highlight. I prioritized a culture of complete acceptance, mentoring underclassmen and earning Big 56 Second Team All-Conference honors. My commitment to the program continues this summer as I organize the NAGBB summer basketball camps. Beyond the court, I also competed on the Varsity flag football team.
My leadership and academic involvement extend across several organizations: National Honor Society — as Social Chair, I coordinate monthly meetings and volunteer opportunities, including a Fall Social donation drive that collected over 100 items for the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh; Math National Honor Society as Publicity Director, I manage social media communications and coordinate volunteer tutoring opportunities; Tiger Thon Captain — as Design Team Lead, I lead a team of 15 students in designing apparel and branding to raise funds for pediatric cancer research; Key Club — as a Distinguished Member, I have logged over 200 voluntary community service hours.
I am also an active member of the English National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, and the National Honor Society for Women in STEM.

What is your favorite memory from your time at NASH?
I always look forward to Project Water. It is a student-run initiative that brings clean water and education to underdeveloped communities through local fundraisers and global service projects. There is nothing quite like the energy of spending a day with friends, having so much fun playing dodgeball, and knowing we are making a tangible difference through outreach and fundraising. It perfectly captures the spirit of the North Allegheny community.
