RANTS

Weren’t the laptops intended to lighten our backpacks by eliminating the need for books and papers? Instead, they’ve only added to the weight on our shoulders. And what about efficiency?  By the fifth day of the school year, I’d visited the Help Desk three times with laptop problems.

…. And then there’s Blackboard.  Is there too much pressure on the teachers to leave their old methods behind and put their lessons and agendas on Blackboard? Some teachers have even abandoned homework boards. I understand that they are trying to be efficient, but it makes it a lot easier for me to forget if the homework isn’t stated in class.

…. I was tremendously surprised when I walked into the Library for the first time this year. The area that used to be filled with tables of desktops was now wiped clean, as if the computers had vanished into thin air. Personally, I preferred how simple and fast it was to use and print on those. It was great to go into a quiet environment and have a comfortable place to work. Our laptops are definitely to blame.

RAVES

Seniors can especially appreciate the new changes to the second-floor bathrooms. It looks like we’re taking a step forward with this. They are are much cleaner and more environmentally friendly than our old ones, and I’ve heard that next year the third-floor bathrooms will be renovated as well. One can only hope.

…. And how about the new water fountains?  There are water bottle fillers located next to the bathrooms near the cafeteria, in the Art wing, and now on the second floor.  With NASH saving thousands of plastic water bottles per year, these contraptions are most likely one of the best changes to the building that NASH has seen in a long while.

…. A place for NASH students to be honest and authentic now exists, and you’re here!  The Uproar is the new NASH student media site.  Here you’ll find everything from rants and raves to rippin’ music reviews.  My fellow writers and I have the freedom to pour out how we feel, update the student body on news, and so much more. It’s a place where there is no holding back; we can show our personalities in the form of words.
