It’s been a recent topic of debate, but I do not believe that school should start at a later time. Having a later school start time would lead to a lot of negative effects.

Having school start later would make after school activities go even later. This would affect everybody that is involved with after school activities. Even if school were to start an hour later, it would leave a huge impact. Practices after school would start an hour later but then would end an hour later, which would leave the practices or activities after that to start an hour later and end an hour later.

Also, what about the games after school? If school went even an hour later, and an athletic team had a game at 4:30, they would have to get out of school.

Having later starts would lead to later nights as well. If students were up later because their practice ran later, and they still had to do their homework, that would lead to a later bedtime.

If the school decided to push back the start time, students would just go to bed later than they do now, and it would result in the same amount of hours of sleep.

Every student to ever go through NA had to wake up at these early times, and they were fine, so why can’t we do it?

I do agree that school starts very early; however, I would not want school to end any later than it does. If school ended later, you would not have as much time after school to do your own activities, even if the activity is not related to school.

In my opinion, getting out at 2:15 makes it worth coming to school at 7AM. Furthermore, a lot of students have jobs after school that they have to go to. If school were to end later, not as many students would be able to work their jobs because they would have less time at night with the fact that they would have to do their homework too. I think this is really important because I know a lot of people that have to earn their money for themselves and for college, and if they cannot have a job to do that, then they won’t be able to do what they would like.

It’s nice for high school students that we get out earlier than the other schools because if our parents are working and we have younger siblings, we can pick them up from the bus stop or from school. If we got out at the same time as them, we would not be able to pick them up right away because we’d be getting home at the same time. or the younger sibling would have to wait for us.

In conclusion, sleeping in later would be nice. However, it would not be worth it because of the effects that it would lead too.
