#5 Ascend Pittsburgh

Ascend Pittsburgh is a bouldering-centric, indoor climbing gym located in the South Side. The type of climbing where a person clambers up walls unrestrained using only the hand and footholds in the wall with some top-rope climbing available. There is also cardio equipment, free weights, a yoga studio, locker rooms, small cafe and free wi-fi on site. This is a gem for adrenaline-seekers and those looking for adventure.

Are you a caffeine lover? Do you love cute cats? Colony Cafe offers two in one, located in the strip district of Pittsburgh. It is free to visit the downstairs cafe and $8 per person/per hour to hang out and visit with adoptable cats in the upstairs Cat Loft. The Cafe offers free WiFi and encourages reservations for the Cat loft. The Cafe is available for private events as well, birthdays, themed parties and more. This is a perfect place to sit back and relax with some fuzzy friends and a steaming cup of coffee.

Thrill-seekers, stop your searching. LumberjAxes is Pittsburgh’s first competitive axe-throwing venue. The sport that is hugely popular in Canada has made its way down to our city. At the rustic warehouse in Millvale, adults of all skill levels can try their hand at it. It’s similar to darts, you have a target and aim but with axes. A great place for big groups or team bonding.
